Looking at the exquisite and short musical theme and thinking about how to make it interesting, I came up with Theme and Variations.

■Theme
I arranged to play the theme in the seventh position, and through an extremely simple voice structure, I presented the unique timbre and pure melodic beauty of the guitar in the middle and high positions.

■First Variation
To continue the theme and expand the musical texture, in addition to the contrast in speed, I hope there can be more interactions and changes between the parts. Although the difficulty of playing is greatly increased, the final effect is very interesting.

■ Second Variation
The bass strings and high positions of the guitar are a wonderful combination, and you can hear a warm cello-like sound. Slow, quiet, and sad, although the performance of the bass melody is enough to carry the whole piece, the occasional high notes still become a charming embellishment.

■Third Variation
A variation that is more difficult to play, consisting of a rapid and continuous stream of scale notes. Although it appears to be a two-part texture at first glance, the treble part contains the theme's melody and rhythmic motives. When playing, one needs to pay attention to the subtle use of phrasing and string touch. The ending grace note is played with double strings, which can also be changed to hammer-and-hook string playing and played in the fifth position.

■Fourth Variation
Change the melody and harmony slightly and quiet it down again. This piece of music is a common church choral hymn. The last four bars of this variation change from the original line-based progression to continuous columnar chords, creating a chorus-like effect.

■Variation 5
Written using the guitar's unique tremolo technique, the irregular crossing of the p finger tests the accuracy of the right hand's fingering and the coordination of both hands. It is a relatively difficult passage, along with the third variation.

■Ending
The theme begins with a soft harmony in the middle, slowly unwinds with the addition of voices, and ends with a third pitch, giving the music a bright and hopeful ending.

The arrangement and recording process of this song was full of difficulties. I worked hard to complete this work in the cracks of time; but I still like everything I do, and I firmly believe that music should bring richness and joy to people's hearts.

Thank you for the beauty of music and thank you for your support. These strengths allow me to raise my head and look forward when I encounter difficulties.

I am very happy to use this song as the last arrangement work of 2024. I wish everyone a happy Christmas and a better new year.

More details

If you want to find a song that everyone has heard but doesn't know the name of, this song is likely to be the first choice. It has not only appeared in TV commercials, songs often played at Christmas, school bells or flag-raising music, but also in the background music of the school. , and some singers have covered it.

"Heaven-Sent Joy" is a classic and ancient British Christmas carol, which can be traced back to before the 16th century, but the composer is no longer traceable. Town night watchmen at the time would sing this song to the nobles at Christmas to earn extra income.

In addition to meaning "happy" and "joyful", the word "merry" also means "powerful" and "great" in ancient times. The title of the song can be translated as "May God bless you to be strong."
