"Kokurikozaka Kara" is a Japanese manga written by Tetsuro Sayama and illustrated by Chizuru Takahashi. It was later adapted into a film animation directed by Goro Miyazaki and planned by Hayao Miyazaki. The title of the drama is translated as "From Kokurikozaka" in Taiwan.

The word "Coquelico" comes from the French word for poppy, "Coquelicot", which means "poppy" here. The poppy is a herbaceous plant of the genus Papaver in the family Papaveraceae. It is also known as the peony and the young poppy. It has strong reproductive capacity and comes in different colors such as red, white, purple, and blue. However, only the red poppy is used to commemorate the sacrifices made in the war. The meaning of .

Why does the poppy have such a meaning?

During World War I, the worst fighting took place in Flanders (Dutch: Vlaanderen) in northern Belgium, which is where poppies bloom. In 1915, Canadian Army doctor John McCrae wrote a poem called "In Flanders Fields," which begins:

"In Flanders Fields, where the poppies bloom,

Crosses marking the places where souls were lost are arranged in rows.

The skylarks still sing in the blue sky,

But all people hear is the gunshots of war..."

Because of this poem, poppies have become the flower worn on Memorial Day on November 11 every year; and the red poppies, which symbolize the color of blood, have also been given the meaning of mourning the victims of war.

The heroine's father died during the Korean War, but the heroine still raises the flag every morning. The flag signal "UW" stands for "Pray for safe sailing" in international communication signals, which reminds people of "Love I'm glad to see you. The lyrics of this passage from "Sea":

"I'm doing fine.

It has grown a lot taller than last year.

I've been waiting here.

Whether now or in the future,

Praying that you have a safe journey. "

I bring you this song "Love をこめて". Sea's guitar music. I hope that in our lifetime and in the distant future, we can still clearly hear the beautiful sound of skylarks singing in the blue sky.
